Boogie Woogie

For this characteristic townhouse in Zaandam, Abstrct designed an interior where history and contemporary living come together. The existing architecture formed the starting point for a warm and personal family home. A design in which character, atmosphere and livability are central.

Colour meets history

Colour meets history

This townhouse from the beginning of the last century demanded a careful approach. We started the design from the existing qualities of the building: high ceilings, classical details, and a clear spatial structure. These elements formed the starting point for an interior concept in which past and present reinforce each other.

The ground floor was reorganized and furnished with an eye for daily use and family life. By working with bold colors, layered materials, and characterful wallpapers, each room was given its own identity, without losing cohesion. The interior feels rich and personal, yet remains balanced.

We combined existing elements with carefully selected furniture and objects, giving the house a lived-in and timeless appearance. Classical lines are softened by contemporary choices, and robust materials go hand in hand with warm textures.

The result is a townhouse in which history remains tangible, but is completely tailored to modern life. An interior that breathes character, offers space for the family, and in which every detail contributes to the bigger picture.
